Notes
The toe of the shoreline at Craig Regional Park Pond was eroding due to heavy stormwater flows entering the pond. This erosion resulted in the loss of soil and gradual degradation of the shoreline.
To restore the shoreline and prevent future erosion, a stable and durable material was needed to rebuild the toe of the slope. Flexaroll, a tied concrete block mat system with an integrated geotextile liner, was selected for the job.
The geotextile layer on the water-facing side of Flexaroll helped contain dredged material placed inside the core, forming a solid foundation for the new slope. Additional dredged material was placed behind the Flexaroll to rebuild the slope and recover lost pond depth.
With the new slope established and the pond dredged, Orange County Public Works successfully restored the pond to its original size and depth.
